Caring for Sterling Silver
Sterling silver will tarnish when exposed to
air and moisture. Please keep your jewelry in an airtight ziplock
bag for storage and include a commercial anti-tarnish strip
with it. Gently clean jewelry periodically with a mild soap
and a soft old toothbrush. Rinse well in warm water,
pat dry and allow to air dry completely before returning it
to a ziplock bag.
If you own a piece with oxidized surfaces (blackened), take
special care not to scratch or use abrasives on them when cleaning.
Carefully clean around the black with very fine steel
wool or use liquid cleaner on a Q-tip if the adjacent surface
is polished, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Jewelry with
gemstones should be cleaned with products that are safe for
use with them.
If you have concerns about cleaning your piece of jewelry you
can contact me via email for assistance. It would be helpful
to visit a jewelry supply website such as ottofrei.com or riogrande.com
to find the appropriate cleaners.
