I was born
and grew up in Southern California. After spending a number of
years out-of-state, going to school and working, I again live
and work in Los Angeles. While in college, I studied fine art
earning a Bachelor's Degree in Printmaking from the University
of Massachusetts in Amherst, and a Master's Degree in Sculpture
from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago.
Then, meeting a talented jeweler introduced me
to a discipline that would prove to be a perfect fit. As a sculptor,
with an interest in design as well, I found jewelry to be a natural
combination of the two.
With each work, I set out to search for an intriguing
combination of movement, shapes, and design. I frequently use
gemstones with graphic shapes or specific color relationships
to add to the narrative of a piece. In the course of making my
work, I enjoy the challenge of designing linking elements so that
they are an integral part of the whole. Metal forming, forging
and articulation are other techniques I use which further contribute
to the aesthetic and structural qualities of each piece.
